May 26 - July 2, 2017. Water Tank
‘Ikimilikiliklik, J.A. Artze’s Universe’ is an audiovisual creation designed to show the viewer JA Artze´s work via immersion in a world of images, music, and sounds to reveal one of the most important and original Basque creators in recent decades.
This video-installation directed by Alberto Lizarralde and Carlos Rodríguez takes its name from Ikimilikiliklik bidekidekaria’, an artistic experience carried out by the Artze brothers and Mikel Laboa in the 1970s.
‘Ikimilikiliklik’ is a journey through the over 40 years of poetic work carried out by J.A. Artze, popularly known as the lyricist of Mikel Laboa’s iconic songs, such as ‘Txoria txori’, ‘Gure Bazterrak’ or ‘Zaude lasai’, among others, and as a txalaparta player with his brother Jexux. J.A. Artze hides a deep and little known work carried out in multiple artistic fields, i.e. books of poems, audio recordings and stage shows.
